Company Profile
Introduction by John S. Perry, President
On April 10th, 1923, shortly after her twenty-first birthday, my late mother, Amy Beatrice Perry (née Hyde) attended an introductory lecture given by Dr. Maria Montessori in Manchester, England. It was my mother's introduction to "The Montessori Method" and the beginning of her journey to become a certified Montessori teacher and a lifetime committed to the principles expounded by Maria Montessori.
From my mother's original notes, taken at that lecture in April 1923, Dr. Maria Montessori's opening remarks were . . . .
"Whenever I hear pupils or friends who have experimented in The Method speaking of it, I am touched and feel great wonder; and when I hear those who are opposed to the method I feel the same emotions. This movement is a thing that is apart, separated from me personally. Those who follow the faith are those who have come in contact with the soul of the child. Those who go away from the faith are those who have searched near the soul, but did not find it. All searchers feel a fraternity, a bond of common brotherhood"
The Gonzagarredi connection . . .
It was during this same period that in 1925 Maria Montessori first contacted the craftsmen Bassoli & Sons, Gonzaga, Italy, to construct her uniquely designed educational materials and child-sized furniture. A highly skilled young carpenter, Cesare Baroni, worked directly with Dr. Montessori and, based on his superior craftsmanship, Baroni's name became inseparably linked to that of Montessori.
Now, some 80 years later, the craftsmanship of Cesare Baroni has evolved into the most outstanding manufacturer of Montessori materials in the world, now known as Gonzagarredi s.c.r.l., combining an artisan's inheritance with the demands of modern technology.
The Perrytech connection . . .
Perrytech Montessori is the name given to the division of our company, formed in 1995, as the exclusive Canadian distributor for Gonzagarredi Montessori materials.
Perrytech Educational Products is a long established company that has been serving both Canadian and international educators since 1963, specialising in the supply of equipment and training programs for teaching existing and emerging technologies at the secondary and post-secondary levels of education.
The more we learn about modern day and new emerging technologies, and the mind-numbing developments that will confront our children and grandchildren in the years ahead, the greater the importance that we prepare our children how to understand and benefit from current and future developments, so they may make intelligent life choices.
There is, perhaps, no other comparable system to the Montessori Method that so effectively prepares young children for a lifetime of learning and conceptual understanding of humanity.
To those of you who "have come in contact with the soul of the child", you know what needs to be done, and we would like to assist you. And it is to you that we dedicate this website.
How may we help you?
Sincerely,
John S. Perry, President,
Perrytech Montessori
